Jenna Simpson is a dancer, caller, and choreographer of English Country Dances. Her first book of choreography, “Under the Influence” (2017), includes 18 dances, complete with sheet music notated and chorded by Dave Wiesler. Her second book, “Revelations” (2022), includes 19 English Country Dances, 2 Scottish Country Dances, and 1 contra. She has called at camps and weekends internationally.
Snapdragon is a new band with some of our favorite musicians – Dave Wiesler, Carrie Rose, Miranda Weinberg—who are preparing their first CD, featuring English Dances from Key to the Cellar, by Jenny Beer and Scott Higgs. Jenny said “Snapdragon has been dazzling an ever-widening audience with their exceptional musicianship and wide range of feeling and mood – while always lifting up the dancers.”

The weekend opens with a Friday night dance from 8-11 p.m.. Saturday there’s a workshop from 10:30-12:30, lunch (included), an afternoon workshop from 2-4, and an evening dance from 8-11. Sunday there is a musician’s workshop and callers discussion from 10:30-12 and then an afternoon dance from 2-5.
Registration: the registration form can be downloaded in Microsoft DOC format. You can either fill it out and mail it with a check made out to CDSSP to Irene Finke, Treasurer at 4123 Haldane St., Pittsburgh PA 15207. Or you can pay by the Paypal dropdown menu below, and email the form information to ifinke@yahoo.com. Please indicate if you plan to attend the caller’s discussion or the musician’s workshop on Sunday.
COVID Safety information: Masking depends on the current rate in Allegheny County and is optional if that rate is low (currently it is low). We will have masks available and hand sanitizer. If you feel ill on the days before the weekend, please stay home. We provide full refunds on request and believe that most hotels and airlines offer some flexibility these days.
